2Timothy 2:5 says, “And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.”
There is a striving that marks the Christian life, yet it is not striving in the flesh but in the Spirit. As Christians we must strive and press on toward righteousness and against the sinful desires of the flesh.

Chris was a young athiest who asked me for directions at Times Square while I was passing out gospel literature there. He must have been pretty disappointed afterwards, since the only directions I was able to give him were to the God of the Bible–Jesus Christ!

With each new Bible study in Romans, the excitement grows within me, because I know these truths are so foundational to salvation. In Romans 6:12-14 we learn that Christians are free from sin and are able to now present ourselves to God as instruments for righteousness. All this is by His wonderful grace!
